A sand slide opens up the foreground

Since the forest closed in last year, little changed in how the tank looked. Now a sand slide has broken that quiet balance: the sand has shifted forward and built up into a clear sand front in the foreground.

The shift shows in the planting too. The Echinodorus has declined, while the Ambulia has spread considerably and now fills a large part of the background.

The next step is to bring more visual calm into the scape, so the sand front and the planting hold each other in balance instead of crowding each other out.
